ON MULTIPLE FLUTE PLAYING

I am an orchestral flutist, and I perform on the Japanese Shakuhachi, Chinese Xun and Dizi, and the Indian Bansuri.  I have been freely exchanging the techniques of one flute with another since 1990, in both notated and improvisation contexts. In the case of the Chinese Xun (ceramic or stone vessel flute) which does not have a 'classical' tradition, I have created a novel technique from this repository.    Additionaly in my case, multiple flute includes "altered flutes,"  such as the "shakulute" and the "glissando flute" which combine regular concert flute bodies with unusual headjoints.
